Three problems every one-person business knows
If your personal mobile is your business line, you're already living them.
Your number is out there forever
Print your mobile on the van, the invoices, the directories — and it never comes back. Change phones, take a holiday, sell up: the calls follow you.
Missed calls go to a competitor
You're on the tools most of the day. In Moneypenny's Small Business Call Report, 69% of callers who hit voicemail hung up without leaving a message. We checked the stats everyone quotes — that's the one that's real.
"The person you're calling…"
A robotic default voicemail is the first thing a new customer hears when you can't answer. It's the sound of a guy with a phone, not a business — and it's fixable before lunch.
Live before your coffee's cold
Three steps, about two minutes of your time. No phone system, no app for your callers, nothing to install.

Questions, answered
- Is it a real phone number?
- Yes — a genuine local number provisioned on Twilio's carrier network. Callers dial it like any other number; there's nothing for them to install.
- Can I choose my area code?
- Yes. We suggest your local area automatically — 212 for Manhattan, 512 for Austin — but you can search for any US area you like, and even hunt for your lucky digits.
- What does it cost people to call me?
- The same as calling any local business. It's a standard local number, so it's typically included in your callers' normal call packages — no premium rates, no surcharges, nothing unusual on their bill.
- Can I bring my existing number with me?
- Not yet — BoltNum issues you a fresh local number. If keeping an existing number is essential, a provider that supports number porting is the right choice for now; we'd rather tell you that than waste your afternoon.
- Can I make outgoing calls with it?
- Yes — click "Call via BoltNum" on any contact and we ring your phone first, then connect you. The customer sees your BoltNum number as the caller ID, so your personal number stays private in both directions.
- How does the contact book work?
- When a caller introduces themselves — "Hi, it's Jamie from Fern & Twig" — we pick out their name, company, and even a preferred callback number from the transcript and save them automatically. You can edit anything we detect, and your edits always win.
- What happens if I go over 300 minutes?
- Voicemail keeps working, always. Press-1 call-through and outbound calling pause until your allowance resets at the start of the next month, and we'll email you well before you get close.
- Can I change my greeting later?
- As often as you like. Edit the script or switch voices in settings and fresh audio is generated in seconds.
- What if I cancel?
- Your subscription stops at the end of the billing period and the number is released. Cancel within 14 days of signing up and we'll refund you in full.
The next call could be a customer.
